Political Insomnia

What Trump is doing makes me so furious that sometimes I can’t sleep and have to do deep breathing exercises to calm down. He thinks he is the ruler of the world. We invade another country after bombing random boats in the Caribbean and starving countries like Cuba of oil they need for everything in daily life.  He talks about seizing and profiting form their oil or any other natural resources that can make him even richer.

He was a legacy millionaire but now he is a billionaire from programs that take money from the poor and middle class and funnel it to him and other multi-billionaires. The news programs are all under his control. We can no longer even trust the evening news. He has squashed it.

Ice agents roam neighborhoods in masks and seize anyone who doesn’t look white to them, shooting protestors without recourse; every one has a license to kill.  We live in an increasingly fascist country that is punishing people whose only sin was wanting a better life for themselves and their children and who were willing to work for it, hard. He despises all people of color with open racism such as I have not seen or heard since my childhood. Jim Crow is back with a vengeance and new teeth.

But how much time I can spend fuming about Trump and where this country is going? The playoffs are a welcome distraction. The Rams/Panthers’ game was exciting to the last second. I’m hoping for some excitement today.

Of course I worry about Medicare being privatized, which means most of what you need for your health will be denied [as people who fall for the so called Medicare Advantage, discover].  And will Social Security find some way then to deny you  or cut down what you get?

These are not great times for sleeping if you’re not a MAGA follower or a billionaire or a lackey.
