Well, I burned the pie but...

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends. Woody spit roasted the turkey and it was perfect.  We worked together cooking most of the rest of the meal. Everything turned out well. I did slightly overcook the pie which only effected the crust around the rim.  We have been eating leftovers ever since. I tried a new recipe for stuffing. It was excellent but the recipe didn’t say how much it produced and it would have fed at least twelve and if I’m alive and able, I will make the same stuffing next year but halve the recipe.

Friday, we cleaned up and put the house back together…after he trapped Willow in order to take her to the vet for her annual exam. Not easy when you’re still in a food fog from the night before. Then he put the main garden to sleep, so now that’s done. There are still many outdoor tasks only he can do these days, but I’m going through my poems of the last five years for a possible new collection and back to decluttering during my ‘breaks.’ There is so much to go through, I wonder if I’ll ever get even half of it done. I have bras that no longer fit or are worn out ad limp that occupy half the bra drawer.

Dale and I will be sending out the lunar calendars I give as gifts to friends at this time of year.  Some local, some far away who also get notes. I love the lunar Calendar, so beautiful, and it helps me keep track of the phases of the moon. Every year, I send them a poem to include. I write a few moon poems every year, I suspect.

Sunday, I’ll take some time off, usually sporadically, to watch a game or two. We have been watching DEATH By LIGHTNING on Netflix about President Garfield, about whom I knew nothing at all. It’s fascinating how much he might have accomplished if he had not been shot. He sounds like a true democratic radical. I highly recommend this show. There are just 4 parts to it, and its history we were never exposed to before.

So, this morning, Woody will move the furniture around in the livingroom to make room and then he will bring in the tree that we bought yesterday. It’s a 9-foot balsam and smells wonderful. He will set it up and we’ll leave it alone [watered, of course] till Tuesday so the cats get used to it and climb it if they want to. Then Tuesday, the lights will go on. Wednesday, we’ll start trimming it. Not much will get done really until the weekend as Thursday and Friday I have long and serious medical and dental appointments way up Cape. He doesn’t have as much patience as I do for putting up ornaments but I always look forward to it.
