In Which I Do Not Write About Snow
Woody puts my blog up every week, often not till Monday. He has forbidden me to write about snow. I can’t mention snow. So I won’t although that’s mostly what’s on my mind.
I wrote a chapter for a feminist anthology many many years ago and now the editor wants me to bring that chapter up to date. I am dubious about my ability to do so. I’m very busy and it takes me twice or three times as long to do tasks as it used to even a dozen years ago. Woody says I was very sprightly all through my 70’s and 80’s. It’s in the 89’s that old age is catching up on me rapidly.
Our dishwasher is broken and the new one is supposed to come next Wednesday – if Woody can clear the drive enough for delivery to be possible. In the meantime, we’re eating off paper plates. This evening we go to Tasha and Stephanie’s in town.
I suspect Dale and I won’t be able to work this week. We’ll see when the unmentionable comes down and how many inches. (The projected blizzard.)
We got take-out last night from Friends Market. They have great ribs and Wood made cole saw to go with it. Friday he does the week’s shopping and I do three loads of personal laundry. By supper time, neither of us feels like cooking, so Fridays we get some kind of take-out.
I’m tired of watching the Olympics by now. I did not realize that Curling is an international sport that is very popular. It is on all day and into the evenings every day. I love track and field in the summer Olyympics
.I watched speed skating up until just recently when it is just too much. There must be 40 different races. All too much to watch. I don’t enjoy hockey and find cross country skiing boring. I imagine it’s fun to do but not to watch.
I have been reading mostly poetry and nonfiction. I ordered 3 dahlia tubers yesterday to go in the raised bed out front. They bloom so late when only the Japanese anemones are blooming here. There is so much I can’t do in the garden any longer. I’m astonished when I remember how much was in cultivation up to a few years ago. A 45 rose garden; so many ornamental gardens; more bush fruits than now; a 4th vegetable garden. More and more I could list. Now it’s takes my available energy and strength to do the few ornamental beds I still maintain, especially the three long pollinator gardens, end to end along one side of the main vegetable garden.
