Days of Awe and Covid Boosters

This week the primary event was both of us getting our flu shots and our Covid shots the same day. We both had a bad reaction, as usual to the Covid booster shots. It’s as if Woody has Covid for 24 hours and I have it for 36 or more.  We were both miserable but as usual, I was in a lot of pain from this shot. The weakness was normal but the night after I couldn’t sleep either. I never had as much joint pain since I had Covid; way back, before they knew much about it. We caught it on the romantic weekend in New Hampshire on the edge of the White Mountains at a inn that the Globe had recommended, that turned out to be a real disappointment, except for the food. That was good.

The response to the shots ate up the middle part of the week. Thursday, I was finally okay and fully functioning.

This is Colombus weekend or indigenous peoples Day – I like that better. I think Columbus was a racist bully responsible for the slaughter of native people on the islands he ’discovered’ – where people had lived since well into the last ice age and probably longer.

I’ve been having a fair amount of computer trouble and if I can get to it next week, I’m going to start the process of finding and buying a new computer – not at Best Buy since the Geek Squad fucked up this computer to the point where it never worked and never will. I dread it as it takes a lot of my time and energy and interrupts writing. And I’ve been having a lot of trouble with Facebook. Normally I post daily, a short note about what I’ve been doing or thinking of writing. But when I try to write and post, I can’t see what I’m writing, so it’s all blind. I try to  write my daily note. But it’s a nuisance and sometimes gets insane.

I can’t believe that the race is so close that Trump might win the electoral college. Don’t people realize how much damage he would do to our government all our safeguards against danger, our allies that he doesn’t care about, people who need help after storms, fire, flood, mass shootings. He will destroy public education. Trump will get rid of the separation of Church and State. He will totally outlaw abortion, contraceptives, and fertility options.  With no control over climate change and fossil fuels: more, bigger hurricanes, fires, tornadoes. He has said he will let the oil companies drill as much and wherever they choose.

This weekend we have friends over for a simple supper of Pizza after sundown. After our days of introspection, on Yom Kippur, we have to make up and make amends to anyone we inured in any way. I can’t cook that day, but pizza is always a treat for us and Woody will make a salad.

I want to be a better person in the next year.

Sometimes we  in on Willow and shaman making out, kissing each other, washing each other, hugging each other. We leaveat once for them to have their privacy. They don’t get into that state when we’re around.
