Boosted at Last!

After 45 minutes wait and 50 minutes incoherent conversation with someone somewhere who had as much trouble understanding me as I did her, I finally got an appointment at a CVS.  But I couldn’t make her  understand there were 2 CVS’s in Orleans and she couldn’t tell me which. I thought I would have to go from one to the other asking.  Fortunately, the right CVS sent me a notice that day and I went and got the shot.

I thought I was off easy this time, as it didn’t bother me at all until in the evening after supper.  When I went to bed, I felt drunk, although I hadn’t had any alcohol.  I slept badly, as my body began to ache and I couldn’t find a comfortable position.  The next day I was very sick.  Chills to the point of shaking with cold and  under a blanket when it was quite warm according to the thermometer. My whole body hurt.  But when I soke Friday morning, I was fine again.

I had been spending a chunk of time every day to trying to find a 2nd booster, and a chunk of time trying to find a kitten, so my days should feel longer now. I’m glad I got the booster, since if having Covid feels anything like what the vaccine caused, it must be sheer hell.

My garden is fully planted, the garden below is too. There are a couple of small spaces left in Woody’s main garden, but only enough space fpr basil ormarigolds. My herb garden is full because lander and rosemary survived the witner and are using all the space at on end of the garden. Parsley fills the other end and lovage plants are taken over in between. So tarragon, thyme, oregano and lemon verbena will have to go in pots that will sit partly on the front porch and partly along the stairway beside the south side of the house.

I don’t undestand why mice keep coming in the house.  The weather has been fine, there is a lot to eat outside, and our house has to smell like CAT.  But come in they do and a mouse hunt ensues and they die and Schwartzie eats them. He is on a special diet for crystals in his urine and there are only 3 kinds available.  So he has stopped playing with mice and cuddling them and has begun to eat them, since apparently they are tastier than his prescription food.

Tonight, our friend Karen is having  us over.  Looking forward to it – Karen is on.  Basically, I cook my way around the Mediterranean.  And io enjoy when someone who knows how to cook, serves such a meal.

I am delighted to feel normal again and ready to get some work done today.  Not a productive week, not the one I had imagined. but at least I got the 2nd booster.

Peonies are blooming, both the tree and the herbacsious.  I lost one of my tree eponies last winter, but one that had been stingy is now producing many gorgeous red-purple flowers.  Dark pink Herbacous peonies from one of my raised beds.  The rhododendrons are coming into full bloom, pinik, purple, red, white.

The Persian lilac is in bloom also.  And for-get-me-nots and a gorgeous big red poppy, soon to be joined by others.  And of course the ornamental allium.  I got for the tall big globes.  I love them and planted them in several places.  May and June are indeed the months of many flowers.
